• Two Orcas at Different Depths: The orca silhouettes inside this ocean whale resin lamp were placed during the pour at two different layers, one higher in the water column, one lower, creating genuine spatial separation that gives the scene its sense of scale. Against the luminous teal resin, they read as pure black form, which suits them — orcas are most themselves as silhouettes.
• Warm Wood as the Surface Boundary: The dark burl wood running across the upper left corner was sourced from Vietnamese forests and left entirely raw. Its irregular lower edge forms the line between the world above the water and everything below it, and because no two pieces of burl wood form that edge identically, every lamp draws that boundary differently.
• A Shipwreck That Earns Its Place: The wreck sitting on the seafloor beside the coral is the kind of detail that takes a second pass to find, and finding it changes how the rest of the scene reads. Suddenly, the divers above it have a destination, the seahorse beside it has a neighborhood, and the ocean inside this ocean whale table lamp has a history rather than just a present.
• Teal Light That Opens the Scene Up: The soft teal glow filling the interior and spilling from the base onto the wood platform below was chosen because it carries the specific quality of shallow tropical water where the light still reaches the bottom, and everything in it catches it differently.
